Miami
WHERE ON EARTH?
WHY GO:

Several bike trails makes this a really bike-friendly roundtrip. Parks, birds, iguanas, nice spots by the sea, beautiful houses and a lot of easy cycling is what you can expect of this trip.

DESCRIPTION:

This roundtrip starts in the nice neighbourhood Coconut Grove along Commodore Trail. Soon it changes to Old Cutler Trail and the bike lanes goes both sides on the same side of the road. It's quiet narrow, but great not to be in the car lanes. You'll see some awesome residential areas on this stretch.

The Matheson Beach is really worth visiting - either now or on the way back. You'll pass the Fairchild Garden, which is worth a day visit on it's own. Make sure to cycle through Deering Estate Park to get some peace and quiet, and maybe buy a coffee at Starbucks and enjoy it at the Peoples Dock. The Black Point with it's short trail out in the sea is also a great spot for a break.

Black Creek Trail is the next section and it's more open, less trees and a lot of iguanas. The Thompson Memorial Park offers beach and a lot of places for a rest. Here you will also find the Miami Zoo.

Heading back you'll get to South Dade Trail which runs in parallel with US1. You share the lane only with buses som it's perfectly ok. And finally, you're back on Old Cutler Road again and can enjoy the last part back to Coconut Grove.

Have a great trip!
