WHERE ON EARTH?
WHY GO:

From city center of Málaga along beach promenades, passing a bird sanctuary, coastal cities on nice bike lanes. Pleasant, enjoyable and easy cycling at Costa del Sol!

DESCRIPTION:

This popular trip follows the coastline south of Málaga city. As soon as you´ve found your way through the traffic in the city and passed the harbor you can enjoy the bike lanes leading you through a small, nice park and crossing over to the beach promenade. From here it´s palms, sand and sea view for several kilometers.

As the route is not signposted, you should pay attention when you reach the end of the promenade. Make sure to connect to the gravel path, and not follow the bike lane turning right. Now you´re entering a beautiful bird sanctuary. In this calm wetland area, you can see wading birds looking for food in the river. The track leads you across funny pedestrian bridges crossing the river. This area is popular for hikers, cyclists and runners.

Make a stop by the stone pier at Guadalamar with tumbling waves breaking over the rocks.  You will pass the short, cute beach, before crossing the dirttrack connecting to the road again. Along the road you will pass the golf course and the long promenade will take you to Torremolinos, one of many resort towns by the coast. The many beach bars invites to food and drinks. And of course, take a swim on these endless beaches, if you want!

This trip turns at Benalmádena. Once you´re here, why not make a visit to Paloma park, one of the greatest parks in Spain. A lot of animals have their home here. Or maybe you want to take the Cable Car and get a beautiful view from the Monte Calamorro, before you get back on the bike and can experience all the nice places one more time.

BE AWARE OF:

In high season there will be a lot of people by the promenade so be extra considerate.
