WHY GO:

From Málaga City through the pine forest to the mountains - on the ebike! Here you will find plenty of unpaved roads, tranquility and a feeling of wilderness - alongside with the city sparkling in the distance.

 

DESCRIPTION:

This wonderful offroad roundtrip starts in Málaga city center. The bike-lanes are well marked and take you uptown through the city along both sides of the river bank. After 7 kilometers you arrive the gate Parque Natural Montes de Málaga, where the dirt roads start. A new world opens up and it´s fascinating how quick you can leave the busy city for the calm and quiet forest!

If you´ve chosen to use an e-bike, you will not regret it now! The dirt roads winds upwards, downhill and up again. The roads are quite wide and the gravel is mainly packed.

 

After about 17 kilometers you will arrive a ruin of an old winery. Here you can enjoy the view with the ocean in the distance, and it´s a great place for a break. There are so many places with a nice view with the mountains in the distance, the sea and the city so it´s worth stopping taking pictures along the way.

The gravel road continues further up and up on winding roads. You can really enjoy the silence in the beautiful wilderness, just you and the nature! When you reach the top and the dirt roads ends, several restaurants are awaiting. With great view you can enjoy a warm meal. If you go here in wintertime it may be a fireplace burning, and you really feel you´re a long way from the bars at the beach.

To complete this roundtrip you can now enjoy downhill all the way back to the city. It´s wonderful to whiz down nice, curly, paved roads with sparse traffic. Soon you will reach the city center and you´re back in the civilization.

BE AWARE OF:

Look out for some rocks and loose gravel. Watch out for other cyclists and hikers and an occational car. As there are nowhere to buy refreshments on the first part of the trip, you may have to bring your own water and snack. Pay attention to traffic in city center.
