WHERE ON EARTH?
WHY GO:

Lovely, easy bike ride from city center of Málaga going east along the Mediterranean ocean. You cycle at beach promenades, through old railway tunnels and on the beach with wind in your hair!

DESCRIPTION:

This roundtrip starts in the city center of Málaga and follows the marked bikelanes through the park under the Orangetrees. Also notice the small cycle marks integrated in the pavement which helps you to follow the track. You will pass the magnificent fortress Gibralfaro.

When you enter the seaside, the cycling is nice and easy along the promenade. The Mediterranean Sea is welcoming you and inviting for a swim any time on this trip. The local beach of Malaga is a great place for locals and visitors.

Note that in Malaga the bikelanes can go both directions on the same side of the road. They are also sometimes quite narrow so look out for other cyclists!

After 4 km turn right to Pedregalejos for the cosy promenade with nice beaches. You will also pass through more of this small beachtowns, with local neighbourhoods and beach restaurants. Make sure to test one of these Chiringuitos with grilled seafood as a speciality.

This roundtrip is nice and varied and you will also bike through old railway tunnels converted to bike- and walking trails. Also notice the signs leading cyclists on to the sand and away from the promenade. This is a smart move to separate pedestrians and cyclists, especially during high season. Enjoy this cycling tour where high speed is not the most important, and everyone can join.

When you reach Playa Los Rubios, the bikelane ends, so we choose to turn at this point. Why not get something to drink at one of the local bars with a great view to the sea before going back the same way and experience all the great places one more time!

BE AWARE OF:

In high season there will be a lot of people by the promenade so be extra considerate.
